Why get married in church?
We are very pleased to celebrate that St Luke’s Church is now open for weddings!
Our modern church is very suitable for those wishing to have that smaller intimate wedding with seating available for up to approximately fifty guests.
A marriage service, wherever it is held, is a public declaration of love and commitment to your partner.
If you choose to get married in church, there is an added dimension - the assurance that God cares about your relationship and that his resources and strength are available to help you. Including God in your marriage doesn't mean that you will avoid all the usual ups and downs, but you will know that you can look to God for help and guidance and that his love will sustain you. You will also have the support and encouragement of the Christian Church family.
Whether you're just contemplating marriage, or already planning your wedding day, your church wants to help and support you.
On October 1st 2008 a new law came into effect, meaning there are now more churches to choose from for your special day and for generations to come.
There are some things about marrying in church that you just can't get anywhere else.
St Luke’s Church in the Parish of Wood Green has been licensed to solemnize marriages since
30th October 2025. However, if you wish to marry in a more traditional church in Wednesbury,
we ask that you inquire at St Bartholomew's Church, Church Hill, Wednesbury, WS10 9DQ, where
they would be very happy to welcome you.
Marrying in church is
• Personal • Meaningful • Spiritual • Beautiful
